Block n Blue

How did you come up with your derby name and number?
My last name is Blockey so I needed to find something with “block” in it. That was a no brainer. I am also bruised most of the time so putting Block and the word Blue together made sense. I am still figuring out my number.

Why did you join TTRB?
A friend sent me a link to flight school and when I saw that no skating experience was necessary I signed up. I needed a new hobby and roller derby seemed like a pretty kick ass way to go. Not only are you surrounded by amazing women but it is an incredible work-out and a ton of fun.

How long have you been skating?
6 months. I was never invited to roller skating birthday parties growing up so I missed out on that vital coming of age that most young girls have.

What derby related injuries, if any, have you had?
Lots of bruises, a groin pull and some ankle issues.

What is your favorite off-skates workout?
Yoga and Pure Barre. I also like a popular arm work out – Lift glass to lips. Take a sip. Put glass back on the table/bar – great for stamina and
endurance…

How has derby improved your life?
I have new, fascinating friends. I have a great way to exercise. I have another way to define myself besides what I do from 9 – 5. If those things alone haven’t improved my life, nothing will.

What do you do with your time, other than derby?
Not a lot. Just ask my non-derby friends. :)

Do you have a quote/saying that means a lot to you?
Shit or get off the pot.

What is your favorite color?
Blue – go figure

If you could be anything other than human, what would you be?
I think being a werepanther sounds pretty cool. Not only are you sleek and beautiful every full moon but your eyesight is great in the dark.
