Chicklets and Peeps — Banked Track Junior Roller Derby
CALLING ALL GIRLS AGES 6-17!
Peeps (beginner) for girls age 11-17 who have never rolled on the banked track, no experience required and everyone is accepted. This is a full contact group and skills will be taught in a thoughtful manner beginning with basic skating and moving up through agility, blocking, hitting and strategy. As girls gain experience and skill they are welcome to take an evaluation and join the Peeps Advanced group described next.
Peeps (advanced) is for girls age 11-17 who have already had a session on the banked track or who have significant derby experience on the flat with another league. This is a competitive, full contact group and these are the girls that bout at home games and nationals. You must begin in Peeps Beginner and pass an evaluation to join the advanced Peeps if you have no prior derby experience.
Chicklets is for girls age 6-10 and there is no contact. We focus on skating fun and basic skills mixed with cooperative skating and team work. This is a non-competitive group and geared toward younger girls.
All skaters, no matter the division must have the following gear:
- Quad skates
- Mouth guard
- Elbow, Wrist, and Knee pads (that fit)
- Hex shorts
Skaters must also provide a copy of their birth certificate and proof of primary health care insurance. No further insurance is required and all Peeps/Chicklets will be covered by a fantastic supplemental accident policy courtesy of TTRB.

Look for our Peeps at upcoming bouts and TTRB events. Beyond their training as derby skaters and competitors, these girls are deeply involved in our community and committed to social responsibility, as are their big sisters. The Tilted Thunder Rail Birds wish to fully welcome our Peeps, we are so happy you are here.
