Tilted Thunder Rail Birds — Seattle All-Female Non-Profit Banked Track Roller Derby
Rail Bird of the Month:
March 2011

Q. What brought you to the Tilted Thunder Rail Birds?
A. I tried out for TTRB after moving up from LA, where I played for the Derby Dolls. I was so happy that I could continue playing banked track roller derby in WA! TTRB has been such a welcoming new league to me, and I have made so many great new friends.

Q. How did you come up with your name?
A. Kiera Knightly is a badass and so I thought of a pun. I started rhyming Kiera with every letter in the alphabet, until i landed on Feara! (its better than BEERa nightly!) I dropped the "K" and changed the last name to "Nightly", and my # is 12am... cause I will kick your ass every night.

Q. What inspires you to kick butt like you do?
A. When life stresses me out, derby is my stress outlet. It's my ME time. So a bad day at work inspires me to kick butt!

Q. What is the best part about doing derby?

A. Having a kick ass alter ego that does things your normal self wouldn't do.

Q. What advice would you give the new chicks?
A. Keep at it! Derby is all about the journey and not the destination. Set goals and keep puttin' those skates on, and you'll get it!

Q. What is your most embarrassing moment?
A. Oh dear, just one? If you know me, you know I am such a dork! I like to fall when I am just standing in skates sometimes. Oops!

Q. What do you do when you’re not skating?
A. What are you talking about? There is life beyond roller derby?

Q. What is your beverage of choice?
A. Mannys!

Q. If you could be an animal, what would you be?
A. A pug. I own two, and I can attest to the fact that they do nothing but sleep all day. and they get so excited for meals and walks!

Q. And lastly, if you were caught in an elevator with the leading man or woman of your dreams, right now, what color underwear would they catch you in?
A. Bright red lace thong!

"She leads by example and always has an encouraging word to give."

"She does a lot behind the scenes with coordinating off-skates."

"She always has a great attitude."

"She always steps up to help out in coaching, she always has a smile, she has really taken a leading role in her short time with TTRB."
